but first... i cut and dyed laryssa's hair:

sweet, now on to the bands.

they did a wu-tang cover

then scatterheart played their new music video on a big screen and it was grand. lots of bubbles. and upside down-ness.

this is wes, a mild-mannered developer by day... rock god by night.

i've never met anyone who's as much of a show as this man. jesse is exuberant and ostentatious and flamboyant and wonderful. i adore him.

guest singer! she had such a cute dress on. wish i'd gotten a better photo of her.

jesse did a handstand and then introduced a dance competition...

this girl DID A FUCKING BACKFLIP. two backflips actually.

moni and dave went up because it was dave's birthday...

check out scatterheart's website and go to one of their shows. they are so much fun. there were feathers flying through the air, there were bubbles, there were headstands. BIKE were also super rad, dancey, fun and wave-your-beer-in-the-air funky awesome rock.

wrote this entry while listening to this dance dance revolution will not be televised, specifically "bounce" and "bench your excitement".

yesterday i made lasagna and it fucking ruled. here's what i did, approximately:

preheated oven to 400.

sauteed a small onion, chopped, and three cloves garlic, minced, in vege oil. added fenugreek and basil, toasting them for two minutes in the oil before adding a big can of crushed tomatoes. stirred all this together, put a top on it and let it simmer.

meanwhile, back at the ranch: crumbled up half a block of firm tofu. added a tablespoonful of mustard, a tablespoonful of nayonnaise, 1/4 cup nutritional yeast, salt. would have added some lemon juice too (like half a lemon's worth) but didn't have it. a tablespoonful of capers with some of the juice. i also added a tablespoonful of red pepper spread that we had in the fridge. when i make things like this i really just throw in whatever i have that's savoury.

cooked lasagna noodles. actually, keri and i managed to get the no-cook kind, so i just kinda softened them.

sliced and sauteed up some mushrooms.
used my wide-blade peeler to peel up some zucchini into thin wide strips. these could probably have been thicker. i should have added eggplant as well though i'd like to pre-salt it and maybe even pre-roast it for a few minutes. uncooked eggplant sucks.

i made a crust but it didn't work out... it was breadcrumbs, garlic powder, pepper and a little nutritional yeast. spread it out on the bottom and then spooned some sauce overtop. put a layer of noodles. a layer of sauce. a layer of zucchini. a layer of noodles. a layer of sauce. a layer of crumbled tofu ricotta. a layer of sauce. a layer of noodles. a layer of sauce. a layer of mushrooms and tofu. a layer of sauce. a layer of noodles. the last of the tofu. the last of the sauce. topped it with breadcrumbs and nutritional yeast.

baked it for about 30 minutes with tinfoil overtop, then broiled it for ten without tinfoil to brown the top.

HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS IT WAS SO GOOD.

I fucked up the colour something fierce on this photos, and tried to edit each one to improve it, so every photo has different colour... it's kind of neat.

this shirt is from value village. he took it in himself with a sewing machine.

the heard took over when neato's set got screwed up... here they are negotiating just how to do so.

The Heard is pretty much the best band ever... I think everyone should go see them live. A wicked drummer/singer/composer/musical guru, a wicked bassist, two guys on laptops and three hip-hop emcees, one of whom is a super foxy lesbian... what else could you want in a band?

EVERYONE! holy crap! tomorrow - thursday november 27th 2008 - there is an amazingly cheap affordable art sale going on at the plank gallery! everything's gonna be under $50, or under $200, depending on whether it's donated or for sale by the artist. in any case there will be much el cheapo art, and some of it will be amanda's! some will be britt's! some will be MINE!

p.s. britt's art is way worth seeing and buying, she's fantastic and is totally selling this stuff for a fraction of what it's worth.
p.p.s. amanda has some prints and a painting up for sale. some of the same stuff she had up at her show over the summer. not these exact pieces but similar.
